🚨 163 MISSING CHILDREN RECOVERED‼️

FLORIDA, USA. — Florida authorities have recovered 163 children during a major statewide operation focused on locating missing and vulnerable youth — putting a powerful number behind the importance of child safety, awareness, and intervention.

From August 17 through August 21, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), working with law-enforcement and child-welfare partners, conducted Operation Statewide Shield, an effort focused on identifying, locating, and recovering missing children under the age of 18.

163 CHILDREN. 163 LIVES.

According to information released by authorities, the children recovered ranged in age from just 2 months old to 17 years old.

Officials said many of the children had experienced various levels of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or exposure to other criminal activity.

The 163 children recovered across Florida included:

• Tampa Bay Region = 46

• Miami = 41

• Jacksonville = 32

• Orlando = 21

• Fort Myers = 12

• Pensacola = 8

• Tallahassee Region = 3

Authorities also reported that the operation resulted in an unknown number of additional children being located in six states, one U.S. territory, and 12 countries.

But 163 isn’t simply a statistic.

Behind that number are children who needed someone to look, listen, ask questions, investigate, and act.

Some children may not know how to explain what they have experienced.

Others may be afraid to speak.

Some may communicate through changes in their behavior rather than through words.

RECOVERY IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

Authorities said children needing assistance were transported to designated recovery hubs where they could receive support from social services, child-welfare professionals, medical providers, victim advocates, and other child-centered resources.

Finding a child is an essential first step.

But protecting that child also means making sure they have access to safety, support, stability, and healing.

163 REMIND US WHY WE MUST PAY ATTENTION

You don’t have to be a detective to make a difference.

You don’t have to be an expert.

Sometimes, you simply have to be the adult who notices something isn’t right — and cares enough to ask questions.

See the signs.

Trust your concern.

Speak up.

Take action.

Because sometimes the difference between a child remaining unheard and a child being protected is one adult who decided to take that child seriously.

163 children were found.

Let that number remind us why every child matters.
