FERGUSON MISSOURI —
Sometimes, when a family is fighting for answers and justice, one person choosing to listen and help can make a meaningful difference.
I want to take a moment to publicly express my sincere gratitude to Nick Kasoff, Ferguson City Council Member representing Ward 2.
For the assistance he provided to my family during a difficult time in our journey to seek justice for Dakota.
In addition to his public service, Mr. Kasoff is the founder and editor of The Ferguson Observer, a local publication focused on the Ferguson community.
As a mother advocating for my daughter, Dakota, I reached out to Mr. Kasoff with concerns about the handling of a pending case involving my child.
I was worried about investigative delays, communication, and the proper handling of evidence.
Mr. Kasoff acknowledged what had happened to my child with compassion.
I needed someone who could help direct my concerns to the appropriate people.
In September, he informed me that the case had been forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
His willingness to respond and help us navigate the next steps meant more to me than words can fully express.
As a mother advocating for her child, feeling heard and knowing someone is willing to help point you in the right direction can make a tremendous difference.
I understand that public officials cannot control every outcome, and I do not share this story to suggest that one person’s involvement determines the outcome of a criminal investigation.
I share it because I believe in building communities where children are protected and safe.
I thanked him privately, but today I want to acknowledge that kindness publicly.
Mr. Kasoff, thank you for taking the time to help my family when we needed it.
I pray that God continues to bless you for the good you do in our community.
My family’s journey toward justice continues, and my commitment to protecting children remains unwavering.
May we never underestimate the impact of one person choosing to help another.
