WINTERPARK FLORIDA —
A youth soccer dispute in Winter Park, Florida, is drawing national attention after police responded to an incident involving the family of Nevada, a 3-year-old soccer player, and officials with i9 Sports.
On October 24, 2026, league director Thomas Hayes called 911 during a dispute at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
According to the Winter Park Police Department, the call concerned a disagreement between league officials and the child’s parents.
The incident gained widespread attention after videos circulated online showing Nevada playing soccer and his family interacting with responding officers.
The league official reportedly raised concerns about the child’s conduct during games and disagreements with his parents over playing-time decisions.
Nevada’s parents disputed the account, alleging that their son was being excluded because of his exceptional soccer abilities.
The Winter Park Police Department classified the incident as a civil matter, not a criminal case.
Police stated that no one was arrested, issued a trespass warning, or forced to leave the park.
i9 Sports has acknowledged the concerns and stated that it is reviewing the incident and working to understand the circumstances.
When disagreements arise between adults, the well-being and dignity of the children involved must remain a priority.
Concerns about behavior, coaching decisions, or league participation should be addressed fairly, calmly, and transparently—without placing unnecessary emotional burdens on children.
